"La Grande Rencontre" in the La
Fontaine park
The "Société d'histoire et de généalogie
du Plateau Mont-Royal" invites the general public to come to
meet his members to the festival "La Grande Rencontre",
which will take place from 08 till 10 August 2008 in the La Fontaine
park. A kiosk of the Society of history will be spot, just next
to the restaurant of the La Fontaine park , will situate in some
steps of the magnificent "Théâtre de verdure".
The festival "La Grande Rencontre" values the musics and
the Quebecois traditional dances in an urban context, bound to the
other currents of the traditional musics, the folk song and the
world. For the edition 2008, from 8 till 10 August, "La Grande
Rencontre" presents " Le violon des Peuples", (fiddle
for folks) an invitation in the discovery of the vitality of the
heritage living Quebecois in connection with the artists of Canada,
the United States, Finland, Sweden, Norway, the Scotland and the
Balkans, illustrating the styles and the musical traditions from
here and there.

For the 150th anniversary of the
Plateau's oldest church
The
return of the angels
Two important
sculptural groups by Olindo Gratton, removed from the façade
in 1978, could return as part of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary
of the Plateau's mother church. Pastor Jean-Pierre Lê is enthusiastic.

St.
Michael the Archangel Church
on the corner of St. Viateur & St. Urbain Streets, in the heart
of Montreal's Mile End district, is open to the public for informal
or guided visits this summer !
A major work of architect Aristide Beaugrand-Champagne, decorated
by the celebrated Guido Nincheri, this heritage landmark will be
open
Tuesday through Saturday
from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
from Tuesday, July 1, to Saturday, August 23, 2008. Welcome

Park-Pine intersection
For
a Hôtel-Dieu Historical District
The SHGP, at the borough of Plateau-Mont-Royal's
Échanges Parc-Pins consultations, recommended the creation
of a Hôtel-Dieu Historical District and the relocation of
the monument to Jeanne Mance, co-founder of Montreal.
